The Trial

The 2010 Frontier Services Classic Outback Trial is an outback style trial through remote areas of NSW, starting and finishing at Forbes.

Run from August 22 to 28, the event has been conceived by the same experienced team of Philip Bernadou, Tom Snooks, Phil Rainer and Bob Watson that organised the 2008 Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial.

The Frontier Services Classic Outback Trial will start and finish at Forbes in Central New South Wales. The competition content will be similar to the 2008 Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial, with lengthy sections conducted on private property and state forest tracks. "The event will be a lot smoother than the Red Centre event, because we do not need to cover rocky terrain, such as around the Mount Isa area" said event Director Philip Bernadou.

The event will commence with a prologue section over 4 to 5 kms around the Forbes showgrounds and nearby areas.

By staying two nights at a time at the same location and with shorter days due to the lack of long transport sections, there will be more rest time and a greater opportunity for crews to socialise.

The Frontier Services Classic Outback Trial has been conceived as a similar, but shorter and more compact event, designed to capture the challenges, adventure and camaraderie of a traditional outback trial within a more compact timeframe and with a novel and exciting finish.

Starting in Forbes, the Trial will take around 50 competitors over a wide range of terrain from typical "red dirt" outback tracks on private properties in Western and Central NSW. An important feature of the Frontier Services Classic Outback Trial is that transport stages have been kept to a minimum for maximum competitor enjoyment. This has also greatly reduced the need for service crews to travel large distances.

The competition content will be similar to the 2008 Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial and the 2009 Classic Outback Trial, with lengthy sections conducted on private property tracks, shire roads and forest tracks. However the event will be a lot smoother than the Red Centre event, opening it up to a wider range of pre-1995 classic rally cars and recreational 4WD vehicles.

Entry fee for the Trial will be $3,750
